
The trail features some of the only slick rock riding in Tahoe to create a technical, physical ride with some of the best views around the lake. Crews removed approximately nine tons of rock from the trail, and moved roughly three tons of rock to make tread. The USFS cut the top quarter mile of trail through a scree field, and TAMBA crews and volunteers, led by crew leader Scott Brown, were responsible for the intricate, technical rock work that was required.

The Lily Lake trail has an elevation change of 800 feet and features mosaic-like rock work, including aspects unique to the Tahoe trail repertoire - slickrock, boulder traverses, and an expansive view of Fallen Leaf Lake on the edge of a 75-foot cliff.Ĭonstruction started in 2018, however due to the challenges of building through dense vegetation and unforgiving talus, professional engineering and building crews were required to complete the work. Youth (12 and under) : 10 (all distances, always) Event description: The Kokanee Trail Runs have been a favorite among the running community for years in the Lake Tahoe Basin. Once funding is secured, the project will be completed using Forest Service Trail Crew cutting in the trail corridor and completing technical rockwork aspects, with TAMBA volunteers completing the trail finish work. 1/2 Marathon: 60 (thru 8/26) 70 (8/26 9/27 80 (after 9/27) online reg closes 9/30. This project is currently unfunded, and will require approximately $120,000 to complete. This project is shovel ready, with some remaining field work to be done prior to construction to finalize the alignments. Clark Trail is a strenuous half mile trail that will take you from the south end of Fallen Leaf Lake up a the steep trail to Angora Lookout point. This trail will be roughly 1.5 miles long.

New construction of a 18” shared use trail running the full length of Angora Ridge.It will be rebuild as a 24” shared-use trail, roughly 2 miles long. This trail exists but is barely there for much of the length.

We are planning to team with the Forest Service in 2017 to build the first phase of these new trails – six miles in total on three new trails. These trails are ‘shovel ready’ but do not have funding for construction. Forest Service for approximately 15 miles of new trails. This runs through empty pine/aspen woodland for a while, past a USFS campground, and then along the east shore of Fallen Leaf Lake, where the road narrows and is bordered by big. The hard work of environmental approvals has already been completed by the U.S. The Glen Alpine trailhead is at the end of the paved Fallen Leaf Road, forking south off Hwy 89, 3 miles from the US 50 intersection in South Lake Tahoe. This area has many old user trails and connections to the new trails at Tahoe Mountain that can be made with your help. To the west of the lake is Angora Ridge, site of the devastating 2007 Angora Fire. Fallen Leaf Lake is a gem at the base of Mount Tallac.
